It is very common to want to be the first one to publish news. We usually want to be the first one to cover a specific topic, especially when it has just happened. However, does this mean our information is reliable enough to trust? The answer to this question is no. First sources to publish news are not always the most accurate and, as a result, not very reliable. This doesn’t mean that being the first one, will always be something negative, but that in many cases it can really affect the quality of the information you publish.
I think that if you want to be considered reliable, you must find the most accurate information from trusted sources. It is better that your publishing is detailed, clear, and accurate, as this will help you become a trusted source where your audience can find the right information. On the other hand, even if you are not the first person to talk about a topic, if you have more relevant and accurate information, your audience will be more willing to consume what you publish.
Something important to consider is that my opinion about this doesn’t mean you have to be the last or the second in sharing the news all the time. But before publishing an article, you must be well-informed and ensure you have the best information you can share with your readers. This means that you can be the first one while still having accurate information. This will build trust with your readers, who will feel you will always do your best to provide the right information, even when it requires extra time. Being fast is good, but in publishing is not always the best. I think that as writers, we must use common sense to determine how accurate the information is before releasing it, and if we feel ready to publish it, that is when we should do so, whether we are the first or the second.
